

Mark L. Folkerts, 41, of Springfield, went to be with our Lord at 12:56 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Mark was born August 13, 1967 in Carlinville, the son of Paul and Maureen Jordan Folkerts. He married Ronda Kay Byers on September 29, 1990 at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond. Mark graduated from Lincolnwood High School. He attended Illinois State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. He was currently employed as a Claims Team Leader with Progressive Insurance, and previously worked for the Economy Fire & Casualty Company. He was a member of the St. Raymond's Knights of Columbus, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chatham. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Wild Rural Park Hunting and Fishing Club. Mark's greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family. His greatest accomplishments were his children. He is preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife Ronda Kay Folkerts of Springfield; children, Luke Daniel and Lauren Nicole Folkerts of Springfield; parents, Paul and Maureen Folkerts of Nokomis; sister, Kathy (husband, Don) Henke of Springfield; brother, John (wife, Fawn) Folkerts of Springfield; father and mother-in-law, Russ and Ruth Byers of Farmersville; brother-in-law, Rick Byers of Springfield; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Amy Byers of Waggoner; nephews, Drake, Corbin and Gannon Folkerts of Springfield; nieces, Haley Benning of Springfield and Morgan and Madison Byers of Waggoner; and several aunts and uncles. Family will receive friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at St. Raymond Catholic Church, 306 S. McElroy St., Raymond with Rev. Pat Gerard Jakel, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Raymond Catholic Cemetery in Raymond. Memorial contributions may be made to the AML Leukemia Research Fund, C/O Washington University, PO Box 8007, 660 S.
