Mark was born to Hugh William Jameson and Dorothy Jean Ryan Jameson. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen Dorsey on January 7, 1978, in Springfield at the Peoria Road Church of Christ.
Mark graduated from Springfield High School in 1976. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, TN. He then went on to Harding Graduate School in Memphis, TN and Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, IL to work towards his master’s degree in Theology. Throughout the years he was employed with several businesses including the IRS, the Juvenile Detention Center and Federal Express. Mark also worked as a substitute teacher, janitor and as a rural route mail carrier for the USPS until his retirement. Above all else, he was a humble man of God. A man who is in love with God, a man who sought God, found him and lived for him, to the best of his ability. Mark was a minister for White Oaks Community Church of Christ for over 30 years. He and Karen were a safehouse for several children over the years. Mark also enjoyed reading, playing cards, gardening, music, writing his novel, poetry and songs, and watching westerns, especially those with Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. His favorite movies were It’s a Wonderful Life and Pride and Prejudice. Mark gave his whole life for his family. Family was most important to him, especially his grandkids; Travis and Sally. Mark would always say, “His home is wherever his kids are” and to his loving wife “I love you my baby.”
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; brother, Jamie Jameson; and sister, Sally Jameson.
Mark is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen Jameson of Springfield; children, Michelle Jameson, Janet (husband, Jeff) Draughan, Jamie Jameson, and Rachel (husband, David) Vaughn-Jameson, all of Springfield, and Jessica Bankhead of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Travis and Sally Draughan; brothers, Hugh, Mike, Richard, Bruce, Steve, and Brian (wife, Nancy) Jameson, all of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
