Martha M. Sutton

She was born in Springfield, January 26, 1943, the daughter of Robert K and Mary E (Edgell) Foster. She married Douglas Sutton Sr. October 24, 1961, and he survives.

Also surviving are her two sons: Douglas Sutton (wife Stacy) Jr, and Michael (wife Kristine) Sutton, her grandchildren: Douglas “Trip” (wife Mackenzie) Sutton III, Zoe (husband Andrew) Pittman, Ciarra Sutton, Jayden Ross, and Draike Sutton, her great grandchildren: Douglas “Lenny” Sutton IV and Maverick Sutton, three sisters: Mary “Liddy” McLaughlin, Phyllis Shropshire and Viginia Calfee, her brother, Samuel (wife Judy) Foster and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Nancy Ann McBane and her brother, Robert Foster.

Martha graduated from Glenwood High School and Lincoln Land Community College earning her Register Nursing Certification. She devoted her career to Memorial Medical Center. She was an avid Bridge Player, enjoyed refurbishing antique furniture, reading novels, and mystery movies. Martha was also a devoted mother and supported her family in all their endeavors.

Upon moving to Concordia , the local residents promptly named her “Gabby” because of her friendly demeanor. She was a beautiful soul who showered those she loved with gifts and kindness. Martha lived life on her own terms with great confidence and humor. See will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Concordia Village Tree of Life Chapel from 10:00 am until 11:30 am. lunch from 11:30 - 12:30. A funeral service will be held there in the chapel at 12:30 pm with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
