Martin Florent

Martin Florent, 72 of Springfield, died at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2005 at his residence. Martin was born February 22, 1933 in Sycamore, IL the son of Albert and Isabel Witt Florent. He married Patricia Fillweber on May 5, 1956 in Sycamore, IL; she preceded him in death July 2004. Mr. Florent attended Iowa State University. He was an area wide independent contractor superintendent for several construction companies. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and loved NASCAR. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by daughter: Lori (husband, Alvin) Stouffe of Springfield; four sons: Ken Florent of Springfield, Bill (wife, Suzie) Florent of Kirkwood, MO, Mike Florent of Nashville, TN and Jim (wife, Jenny) Florent of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; one great grandson; one brother: John Florent of Eugene, OR; two sisters: Grace (husband, Dale) Knowlton of Omaha, NE, Karen Grant of New River, AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St. Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Patricia Florent Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Joseph’s School, c/o St. Joseph’s School, 1344 N. 5th St,. Springfield, IL 62702.
