Mary L. Boyer

Mary L. Rittenhouse Boyer, 88, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Chicago and Springfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. Mary was born March 8, 1922, in Springfield the daughter of Charles and Mary Kelly Rittenhouse. She married Martin Boyer in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Charles, Allyn, and Robert, all of Springfield. Mary graduated from Ursuline Academy then attended Springfield College in Illinois. She later went on to work from 1948 with her husband at Martin Boyer Company. This company was sold to AON Corporation in 1990. She was a member of the Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago, IL. She is survived by three step-daughters, Diane Jerhoff, Janet Boyer, and Candice Boyer; two nieces, Judith Rittenhouse and Joan Merriman; two nephews, John Rittenhouse and Daniel Rittenhouse; numerous grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and step-grandchildren. Her nephew Jerry Rittenhouse preceded her in death in 2002. A private funeral ceremony was held at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Peter Harman officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph Church, 1345 North 6th Street Springfield, IL 62702-3912.
