She was born in Springfield on July 16, 1942, the daughter of Anthony and Bruna Gaio Corredato. She married Donald F. Buckman on November 23, 1979 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield.
Mary attended Ursuline Academy and went on to study at Rockford Memorial Hospital School of X-Ray Technology and Salem College in West Virginia. She worked at Evanston Hospital, Manatee Hospital in Bradenton, FL, Mattoon Hospital, Orthopedic Center Physicians Group, and also worked at Horace Mann as a claims examiner for 11 years. Mary was a member of ASRT, AART, U.S. Trotting Association, Indiana Standardbred Association, AARP, and American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She especially loved reading, travelling, and baking, especially Christmas cookies. Mary’s family was very important to her, especially the “little” family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-son, James F. Buckman; step-grandson, Jason Coffman; and brother, Rev. John L. Corredato C.S.V.
Mary is survived by her husband; step-daughter, Kim Buckman Mitchell; step-grandson, Travis S. Mitchell; step-great-grandchildren, Isla Mae Mitchell and Aiden D’Esposito; brother, James A. (JoAnn) Corredato; nieces, Jennifer Lynn Corredato (Jeff) Sowers and Julie Christine Corredato; nephew, John Joseph (Ann) Corredato and grand-nieces, MaryKate Corredato (Logan) Muncy, Sophia and Claire Corredato; grand-nephews, Alex and Bradley Sowers, Michael Corredato, Liam and Sean Hughes; and numerous cousins.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Manuel P. Cuizon C.R.S., Ph.D. officiating.
Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
