

Mary Jeanette Crane, 89, of Springfield, peacefully passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 at St. Josephs Home, after a long journey with Alzheimers disease. She was born in Springfield, IL on September 4, 1928, the daughter of Bernard B. and Ruth A. Radford Frey. She married Norman R. Crane on September 8, 1953 in Kankakee, IL; he preceded her in death on June 15, 2003. Mary was a 1946 graduate of Ursuline Academy, a 1948 graduate of Springfield Junior College, and in 1949, she graduated from St. Johns School of Medical Technology. Her career began at Decatur and Memorial Hospitals, and later took her to the office of Drs. Allyn, Maher, and Howard, where she worked until retirement. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Crane of Chicago and Kim (husband, Steve) Winner of Springfield; grandson, Kelly McGrath; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Keegan McGrath, all of Springfield; sister, Rita Sullivan of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Private family graveside will be held at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Josephs Home, 3306 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703.
