

Mary Frances ''Fran'' Davis, 73, of Springfield, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, at St. John's Hospice. Fran was born April 29, 1928 the daughter of Walter and Josephine Beaghan Peifer in Chicago. She married William E. Davis at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield. Mrs. Davis, a Sacred Heart Academy graduate, worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company for several years before her retirement. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Springfield City Garden Club where she had been the recording secretary, a member of Illinois Bell Pioneer Club and Central Illinois Rose Society She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Joseph P. Peifer. She is survived by her husband William E. Davis of Springfield; five Children: D. Michael Davis of Peoria, Kathleen A. Davis of Springfield, Phillip V. (wife, Peggy) Davis of Springfield, Terrance P. (wife, Anna) Davis of Webster Groves, MO, Timothy W. (wife, Diane) Davis of Sunset Hills, MO; one brother: James P. Peifer of Springfield; one sister: Elizabeth J. ''Bette'' (husband, Leonard) Harmeyer of Dallas, TX ; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2001 with a wake service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday May 21, 2001 at Christ the King Church with the Very Reverend Patrick Wright, VF celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Hospice 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702.
