

Mary was born June 24, 1936, in Pontiac, IL. She was the daughter of Stephen Bert and Catherine Richter Adsit. She married William Donald Forsyth, Jr. on April 9, 1960, in Pontiac, IL.
Mary earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and was employed as a high school English teacher. She was a past board member with the Girl Scouts and United Way and past president and area council member for the Springfield Junior League. Mary was also a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Progress Circle of King's Daughter, EO Chapter of PEO, WISE Investment Club, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and co-director of Volunteers at St. John’s Hospital. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and mahjong.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stephen R. Adsit; and grandson, Wesley Welindt.
Mary is survived by her husband, William D. Forsyth, Jr. of Springfield; her children, Dr. Kelly Forsyth of River Forest; Dr. Elizabeth (Robert) Whalen of Greenwood, IN, William D. (Martha) Forsyth III of Winnetka, and Ann (Paul) Saladino of La Grange; and her grandchildren, Dillon and Nicole Welindt, Maddie, Abigail, and Claire Whalen, Will, John, Mary Therese, and Andrew Forsyth, and Katie, Dan, Kevin, and Julie Saladino.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
