Mary Handley

Mary Handley, 87, of Flora, died at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, August 07, 2004 at St. John’s Hospice. Mary was born February 21, 1917 in Flat River, MO the daughter of Conrad and Mary Chiura Makuh. She married William Handley, Jr. in 1946 in Springfield; he preceded her in death April 17, 1994. Mrs. Handley, a graduate of Benld High School, was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her parents and six brothers. She is survived by one son: Dennis E. (wife Laveta) Handley of Ballwin, MO; one daughter: Mary E. (husband, Don) Talmant of Flora, six grandchildren: Eric and Zach Talmant of Tampa, FL, Lauri, Denny Jr., Julie and Becky Handley of Ballwin, MO; one sister: Ann Ruhl of Oak Lawn, one brother: Steve “Gus” Makuh of Benld and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004 at St. Anthony’s Hellenic Orthodox Church, 1600 S. Glenwood, Springfield with Rev. Anthony G. Tzortzis principal celebrant and Rev. Paul Waters concelebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
