

Mary H. Kane, 89, of Springfield, died at 9:38 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at her home. Mary was born May 20, 1927 in Medora, the daughter of Louis E. and Lillian M. Ruyle Brown. She married Harry E. Kane on June 21, 1951; he preceded her in death in 1993. Mary was a graduate of Medora High School and attended Brown's Business College. She worked for Alton Glass Co., was payroll manager at Woolco, and later retired from Venture Department Store. After her professional career, she was a homemaker for many years. Mary was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a Lay Associate of St. Francis, and the former Vice President of Legion of Mary. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed raising her children and attending church. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis Lee Kane; and two brothers, Dale E. and George F. Brown. She is survived by six children, Linda M. (husband, Ron) Welch of Springfield James F. (wife, Beverly) Kane of Springfield, Mark A. Kane of Chatham, Michael E. Kane of Chatham, Patricia A. Stelle of Springfield, and Mary Ann (husband, Jim) Legg of Chatham; ten grandchildren, Jeremy and Jennifer Welch, Justin and Rylan Kane, Andrea (husband, Matthew) McElroy, Michael Kane, Lillian and Aaron Stelle, Nolan and Mallory Legg; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Adelyn, and Landon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Rev.
