

Mary Ann Maurer-Blasko, 91, of Springfield, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Heritage Manor. Mary was born February 12, 1922 in Springfield, the daughter of William Guy and Mary M. Walsh Pierce. Mary attended Ursuline Academy in Springfield. She spent most of her life as a homemaker caring for her family and helping to take care of others as well. She enjoyed movies, dancing, reading, working crossword puzzles, and visiting with old friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her late husbands, Otto Butchek, Leonard A. Maurer Sr., and Andy Blasko; two sons, Leonard A. Maurer, Jr. and Jonathon Edward Butchek; daughter, Mary Margaret Howell; a grandson, Adam Crip; three sisters, Patricia Williams, Margaret Gerg, and Katie Epright; and two brothers, William "Bill" and Edward Pierce. She is survived by her son, Michael Maurer of Springfield; three daughters, Barbara (husband, Jim) Calvert of Decatur, Judith (husband, Ralph) Buckman of Sherman, and Kathleen (husband, Denny) McCann of MI; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Terese Roberts of Madison, WI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
