Mary McCarty

Mary McCarty, 80, of Springfield, passed away on February 23, 2025 at Springfield Suites. She was born on March 1, 1944 in Moline, Illinois to Carl Everett Wilkey and Wilma Cleona Livingston Wilkey. Mary married William “Jack” McCarty and he preceded her in death in 2019.

Mrs. McCarty is survived by one niece Andrea (Dave) Barbknecht, one niece in spirit Marsha Krepel, one sister-in-law Joanne Mackiney, one brother-in-law Junior (Judy) McCarty and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother Carl Richard Wilkey and one nephew Corey Wilkey.

Mary worked as an accountant for the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture for over thirty years. She enjoyed the Illinois State Fair, fishing and gambling. She was a member of Springfield First United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday March 3, 2025 at Springfield First United Methodist Church, 2941 Koke Mill Road in Springfield. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of service Monday at Springfield First. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday March 3, 2025 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, Illinois.
