

Mary Jane Meisner, 80, of Springfield, passed away on May 17, 2012 at St. John's Hospital following a brief illness. Her loving family was at her side. She was born September 17, 1931, in Brown County, Illinois to Harold and Berniece (Baker) Reische. She married John Otto Meisner (Jack) on August 6, 1955 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Springfield, IL. Preceeding her in death were her parents; her step-father, Harry L. Dowler; and her son, Timothy Meisner. Surviving are her husband, Jack; son, John (Mary) of Chatham; two grandsons Josh and Lucas; as well as sister-in-law, Joan Meisner; beloved cousin, Sue Ann Duvendack; and honorary granddaughter, Ann McDermott. She was a homemaker, raising her sons before working at The Vogue, Rolands and Mommy & Me, all in Springfield. She was a member of Westside Christian Church for over 50 years. She was strong and never afraid to speak her mind, always telling you how it was and what she thought. She enjoyed quilting, playing bridge, and volunteering at her church. She loved her family deeply and adored her grandchildren, attending every sporting event, family gathering, and celebrating their every achievement. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Ball Chatham Education Foundation for Autism Programs, 201 Mulberry, Chatham, IL 62629, to honor her grandson, Lucas, and future students with Autism.
