

Mary E. Patton, 90, of Springfield died at 3:10 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2004 at Capitol Care Center. Mary was born May 19, 1914 in Springfield, the daughter of George W. and Nellie V. Shields Doyle. She married Thomas J. Patton on October 5, 1935 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception; he preceded her in death in 1990. Mary was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Cathedral Altar and Rosary Society. She was employed as a bookbinder for Phillips Brothers Printing and was a member of (GCIU) Graphic Communication International Union Local M 32. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother: George W. Doyle, Jr., two infant brothers: Harold and Charles Doyle; sister: Eileen V. Rapps and infant sisters: Margaret, Bessie and Helen Doyle. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence Springfield with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family of Mary E. Patton is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
