

Mary Jane Vespa, 83, of Springfield died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Lynncrest Manor Nursing Home in Auburn. Mary Jane was born December 25, 1920 in Springfield, the daughter of Walter and Gertrude Lynch Best. She married Mario R. Vespa on June 20, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springfield; he preceded her in death on March 10, 1993. Mrs. Vespa was a homemaker and a member of Church of the Little Flower. Mary Jane was also a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Women's Auxiliary. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son: David Mario Vespa, and two brothers: Jim and Walter, Jr. Best. She is survived by two daughters: Barbara (husband, Dan) Rittenhouse of Springfield and Marguerite (husband, Gary) Roth of Waverly, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters: Stella Fee, Dorothy Cour and Catherine Best all of Springfield, and three brothers: Bill Best of Lakewood, Co, Ray Best of Shelley, ID, Jerry (wife, Toni) Best of Menomonie, WI. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. in Springfield. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Father Chuck Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
