

Maurice P. 'Moe' Colin, 84, of Springfield, died at 2:10 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at Senior Living in Springfield. Maurice was born on August 30, 1921 in (Coello) North City, Illinois, the son of Victor Sr. and Adolphine Cailleaux Colin. He married Alma Jean Sexton on December 23, 1946 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on May 4, 2003. He attended Lanphier High School. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was awarded four Bronze Stars for serving in the following campaigns: Southern Philippines, Luzon, New Guinea and Bismarck-Archipelago and he also received the Good Conduct Medal. He was also company bugler. He was employed from 1941 – 1978 at Sangamo Electric as a plastic molder, retiring after thirty-seven years. He also had been employed at Ursuline Convent from 1978 – 1984. Maurice was an accomplished trumpet player, playing at The Mill with the Ray Cappella Orchestra and Lou Hahn Orchestra. He was also an avid gardener. Maurice was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Augusta Kruger on Oct. 29, 2001; one brother: Victor Colin, Jr. He is survived by two brothers; Armand J. Colin of Springfield and Adolph “George” (wife, Winnie) Colin of Salisbury; four nieces: Yvonne Brandis of Springfield, Kathleen Whittle of San Diego, CA. Vickie Osterholt of Springfield, Vickie Kay Marsee of Shawnee, KS, one nephew: Victor P. Colin of Shawnee, KS; several great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Meehling, officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
