

Maurice A. Nagorsky, age 90, of Springfield, passed away on January 1, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Moe was born on October 13, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois to Sidney and Sylvia Nagorsky and was the youngest of two children. He married Frances J. Berkley in Springfield on October 23, 1960.
Surviving are his wife Frances and his daughters: Mindy (Arthur) Carlson of Chicago, Sheila Nagorsky of Santa Monica, CA., and Lynn (Brendan) Duffy of Springfield, five grandchildren: Scott and Abby Carlson and Drew, Phoebe and Jonah Duffy and one sister Goldie Kray of St. Louis as well as nieces and nephews.
Maurice was a US Army Veteran serving in Korea. Upon his return in 1954 he joined the family business, Sid and Son Scrap Yard, and retired as the owner after fifty years. He was an active member of Temple Israel for over 65 years and held many board positions including President and House Chairman. He enjoyed traveling, walking in the park and spending time with Fran. Moe was loved by many and will be dearly missed; may his memory be a blessing.
