Melissa Ellen "Mitzie" Gentry Morgan, 64, recently of Phoenix, AZ, passed away September 14, 2009 at her home. She will be profoundly missed. Melissa was born April 25th, 1945 to her parents, Rex and Mary Ellen Gentry. Her parents and one brother, Lionel Gentry, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sisters, Lezlie Gentry Landis of Cincinnati, Ohio and Sibyl Gentry Lakebrink of Springfield, Illinois and a brother, Trabue Gentry, also of Springfield. Mitzie, an interior designer by profession, specialized in commercial decorating for clients throughout the U.S. and Canada. She was honored to have had her work featured in Architectural Digest, and various trade publications. An accomplished gourmet chef, Mitzie also enjoyed preparing recipes and using techniques she learned from her trips around the world. Cremation was held in Arizona. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
