

Michael F. Baker Sr., 57, of Springfield, died on Monday, November 26, 2007 at his daughter’s home. Michael was born April 14, 1950, in Springfield the son of Jesse O. and Mable T. Richard Baker, who preceded him in death. Michael was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Vietnam. Michael was employed as a union construction worker locally for over 10 years, primarily during the 1970’s. He had also worked as a deliveryman and serviceman for Henry’s Appliance for over nine years, primarily during the 1980’s. He was a member of the American Legion Post #32, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed traveling, watching televised wrestling, and spending time with his family. He was also preceded in death by one brother: Walter Oliver Baker. He is survived by one daughter: Kimberly McCloughan of Riverton; one son: Michael F. Baker, Jr., of Harrisburg; three grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers: Charles S. Baker of Murrayville and Claude S. (wife, Deanna) Baker of Moberly, MO; one sister: Kay (husband, Charles) Ratliff of Murrayville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends on December 3, 2007 from 12 p.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 1 p.m. on December 3, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Presley officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
