Michael G. Mele Sr.

Michael Guido Mele Sr., 70, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday May 12, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on December 20, 1945 in San Giovanni Lipioni Italy. Michael married Cheryl Prather on December 30, 1967 in Aurora and she survives.

Mr. Mele is survived by five children: Tony (Marie) Mele of Franklin, Michael G. Mele Jr. of Springfield, Christopher L. (Jenniffer) Mele of Destin, FL., and Michele Mele and Reuben Mele both of Springfield, six grandchildren: Garret, Alexa, and Austen Mele, Giavanna and Kwamae Rogers, and Braden Mele, and two brothers: Frank (Linda) Arcara of Pennesylvania, and Nino (Maria) Valentino of Belgium and many other nephews and nieces who were all loved by him.

Michael was a US Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. He was a Chicago Cubs fan who believed “This is the year.” His passions were his family and traveling. His last words were “It was a fun ride and good while it lasted” forever showing his passion and attitude for life.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday May 15, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses Jacksonville, Illinois
