Michael W. Mohay

Mike was born on October 6, 1945, in Springfield, the son of John and Lorraine (Lucas) Mohay. He married Barbara Marion on February 18, 1967, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time in the Marines, he earned a degree in electrical engineering. Mike worked as a Systems Technician Engineer for Illinois Bell, now AT&T, for 37 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Sangamon County Rescue Squad. He enjoyed playing pool, and cooking, especially Sunday dinner. Mike loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John “Jack” George Mohay; and sister, Jean Schantz.

Mike is survived by his wife, Barbara Mohay of Springfield; daughters, Laura (Matt) Kuchar, Anne Mohay-Hillen, and Christine Wagner, all of Springfield, and Michelle (Mike Marcy) Weder of Spaulding; grandchildren, Kristin (Emerson) Weed, Layne (Nate) Lowis, Lexie Kuchar, Jeremy and Alexandra Merz, Corey, Tyler, and Kyle Hillen, Kristina (Steve) Gammons, and Channing Wagner; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Loxley Weed, Mattyson Thornton, Bryson Gammons, Kyle Conder, Jr., Kayden Conder, Izabella, Nikolas, and Lily Hillen; and brother, Dennis “Denny” Mohay of Springfield.

Graveside Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Manuel P. Cuizon, PhD officiating.
