Mike was born on March 21, 1952, in Decatur, IL, the son of Charles Eugene and Kay Jeanine (Edwards) Reed. He married Catherine L. Joplin in 1973 in Decatur, IL.
Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. After serving his country, Mike was employed as a diesel mechanic for Bob and Ron’s Repair Services, as well as with the Decatur Public Transit System. He was an avid NHRA drag racing and NASCAR fan. Mike loved shooting pool and was a former member of a local pool league.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Debra Sund.
Mike is survived by his wife, Catherine Reed; two sons, Christopher Reed of Saucier, MS, and Dustin Reed of Decatur, IL; four grandchildren, Corey M. Melton, Rhiannon Burdizak, and Draken and Tanis Reed; sister, Julie Shorey of Buffalo, IL; brother, Allen Reed of Mt. Zion, IL; one great-grandson, Timothy Melton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
