Michael was born on July 5th, 1990 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Michael was brought to Springfield, IL at the age of 3 where he spent his childhood. Michael graduated from Lake Forest Academy High School and subsequently attended Miami of Ohio University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Michael relocated to Denver where he enjoyed a shortened but fun-filled life surrounded by his friends.
Michael will be remembered for his love of life, his love for friends and family, and his love of music and concerts. Michael was a devoted and compassionate friend to many, and the life of the party. He loved golf and took great pride in having once shot an “albatross” (more rare than a hole-in-one). He was a very proud doggy dad and dearly loved his Alaskan Klee Kai’s – first Kiva and now Bertha.
Michael was always a strong advocate for social justice causes. During his schooling, he spent a summer internship with the Illinois Innocence Project, which he found extremely rewarding and meaningful.
Michael is survived by his parents, Joel and Nancy (nee Jones) Tennenhouse, his brothers Matthew and Zachary Tennenhouse, his grandparents Kay and Darrell Butt, Jim and Evelyn Dixon, Sharon Millard (nee Smith) and his loving puppy, Bertha.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather John Jones, and his paternal grandparents, Arnold and Faye Tennenhouse, and his beloved Kiva.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Monday December 8, 2025 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road and burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:30am until the time of service Monday at Bisch West.
