Mildred A. "Mike" Meyer

Mike was born on October 5, 1925, in Springfield, the daughter of Noah W. and Josephine Macklin Knotts. She married Franklin Rae Meyer on April 26, 1952, in Springfield; he preceded her in death.

Mike was a 1943 graduate of Ursuline Academy. She earned a nursing degree from St. John’s School of Nursing in 1945. Mike had a long career as a Registered Nurse in various capacities including, Santa Fe Railroad, school nurse for Catholic grade schools and Southeast High School, and as a Psychiatric Nurse for St. John’s Hospital. Mike earned her doctorate degree from Southern Illinois University in 1981. She worked for Lincoln Land Community College for 20 years as a career counselor. Upon retiring from Lincoln Land, she had a private practice as a Sociologist and family counselor.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.

She is survived by her sons, Tracy (wife, Gale) Meyer of Springfield and Scott (George Marvin) Meyer of Portland, OR; one daughter, Nancy Grayheck of Burr Ridge, IL; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 South Walnut St., Springfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
