Molly J. Sturgis

Molly J. Sturgis, 79, of Springfield, died at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Capitol Care Center. Molly was born October 6, 1932 in Springfield, the daughter of William and Mary Mahoney Marion. She married Edward "Hank" Sturgis in Springfield and he preceded her in death on October 13, 2007. Molly was a homemaker and a member of St. Cabrini Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Republican Club of Springfield Township. She enjoyed driving, gardening, reading, word searches, embroidery, and going to the cabin to boat and fish, but her greatest accomplishment was raising her four children. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Michael Sturgis of Springfield; three daughters, Mary (Bill) Filbrun-Kuhar of Springfield, Martha Rowland of Clarksville, TN, and Margaret (David) Wagnerowski of South Point, OH; eight grandchildren, James (Erin) Sturgis, Jason (fiancee' Stacie Waters) Filbrun, Suzanne (Brandon) Grippi, Jon David (Lindsay) Filbrun, Amanda Sturgis, Travis Sturgis, Kimberly Rowland, and Victoria Rowland; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kayla, Claire, Haley, Amya, and Trae; six siblings, Patricia Sroude of Belleville, Barbara Steward, Mary Ellen Clemons, Theresa Smith, and Jerome Marion, all of Springfield, and Peggy Miller of Mobile, AL; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Chiola, officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
