Monica Vespa

Monica Vespa, 89, of Springfield, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Oak Terrace Health Care. Monica was born on December 21, 1917 in Carlinville, the daughter of William and Mary Ryan Bloomfield, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by one son, William Vespa. She married Vincent Vespa on July 11, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlinville, IL. She was a graduate of Carlinville High School. She was a member of Altar and Rosary Society at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and St. Louise de Marillac Guild. She is survived by her husband, Vincent; two sons: Thomas (Janice) Vespa of St. Louis, MO, Marty (Denise) Vespa of Springfield; two daughters: Susan (Dennis) Vespa-Dodd of Pittsfield, IL, Kathleen (Mike) Vespa-Pampe of Olney, IL, one step brother: Steve Bloomfield of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren: William Vespa, Jr., Timothy Vespa, Scott Ogelsby, Sarah Ogelsby-Banfield, Justin Dodd, Patrick Dodd, Jared Dodd, Mona Vespa-Langenberg, Abigail Vespa, Matthew Vespa, Dominic Vespa, Vincent Vespa, Francie Vespa, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family welcomes friends to visit from 9:30 until the time of a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday October 26, 2007 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S Walnut St, Springfield, 62704. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Martin De Porres 1300 S. 9th St., Springfield, IL 62703.
