Muriel E. Smith

Muriel E. Smith, 74, of Pawnee, passed away on Thursday August 21, 2014 at her residence. She was born on December 10, 1939 in Tonawanda, New York to Kenneth and Edna Benton McKinley. She married Franklin Smith on May 16, 1969 in Buffalo, New York and he survives.

She is also survived by her daughter Melanie (Marc) Gregory of Pawnee, and her two grandsons: Tyler and Brandon Noehre. She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Muriel received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1968 from State University in Buffalo, New York and she worked as a cardiac nurse in New York and as a registered nurse in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois working at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Mrs. Smith received her Bachelor of Accountancy Degree in 1988 graduating from the University of Illinois Springfield campus and then worked as a CPA for the Teachers Retirement System retiring after eight years of service. She enjoyed crafts and taught a crochet class.
