Neva Elizabeth Embree

Neva Elizabeth Embree "G.G.", 84, of Springfield, went to meet her heavenly father at 8:45 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Neva was born December 11, 1928 in Enfield, the daughter of Charles and Autha Downen Weasel. Neva married Parley R. Embree on February 24, 1949 in Decatur; he preceded her in death in 1992. Neva retired from the Secretary of State's office for the State of Illinois in 1991. She was a member of the Calvary Temple Christian Center. Neva enjoyed quilting, embroidery, reading, visiting with friends and family, garage sales, and thrift shopping. She made quilts for all her children; grandchildren. Her family was her joy. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruby Carlton and Valeda Clevenger; and one brother, Hobart Weasel. She is survived by one son, Dennis Embree of Springfield; two daughters, Sheila (husband, Stan) Vacek of Springfield, and Jan (husband, Gary) Spencer of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Chad Vacek, Neil (wife, Sara) Vacek, Amy (husband, Bobby) Spencer Seaton, Heather Spencer, Elizabeth Embree (fianc, Trevor Parker), and Clay Embree; eight great-grandchildren, Zamora Vacek, Stanley Vacek, Gage Vacek, Vail Vacek, Bobby Seaton, Jr., Olivia Seaton, Claire Seaton, and Courtlynn Seaton; one sister, Mabel (husband, Lowes) Browning of Carmi; and one brother, Kenneth (wife, Louise) Weasel of Grayville. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Lowes Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
