

Nora I. “Dottie” Sneyd, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday June 13, 2013 at Oak Terrace Healthcare Center. She was born on July 21, 1929 in Petersburg to Harm and Catherine Farrow Otto. She married George A. Sneyd in Mississippi on April 23, 1952 and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1973 in Peoria, IL.
She is survived by her son Charles T. (Bert) Sneyd of Rochelle, IL., her daughter Nora A. (Larry) Brumm of Petersburg, four step children: Donna Rose (Leonard) Curtis, Robert A. (Sue) Sneyd, George D. (Connie) Sneyd, and Gloria Jean Lowe, one brother Herschel (Betty) Otto of Virginia, two sister-in-laws: Marian and Lola Otto, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her companion of 27 years Donald McKnight, her foster parents Ralph and Frances Murphy, five brothers, two sisters, her son Ralph E. Sneyd, grandson Thomas Sneyd, and great-grandson Purnell Jones.
Dottie worked at the Black Angus on 6th street for over twenty years and prior to that she worked at Stevie’s Latin Village on North Ninth Street. She loved all of her pet dogs, cats, and birds over the years as well as Elvis Presley. Dottie was a Cubs fan until they traded Mark Grace and then she followed the St. Louis Cardinals.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday June 18, 2013 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen St., with Gary Sneyd officiating, and burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 12:00-1:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
