

Norma Haber, 69, of New Berlin, formerly of Red Hook, NY, died at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2007 at her residence. Norma was born July 26, 1937 in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of Joseph and Pauline Bloch Goldstein. She married Seymour “Sy” Haber in New York on October 24, 1954. Norma received a Bachelor’s degree in history from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she graduated at the top of her class as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She taught Sunday School classes, worked as a substitute teacher and was also a public school teacher. Norma was passionate about learning and her faith. She enjoyed teaching the Bible and held Bible studies at her home, and always enjoyed reading about history and mysteries. Knitting, collecting Snoopy memorabilia and Cabbage Patch Kids were more of her favorite hobbies. She was preceded in death by her parents Pauline and Joseph Goldstein and one brother: Philip Goldstein. She is survived by her husband, Seymour “Sy” Haber of New Berlin; three sons: Roger (wife, Nanci) Haber of Middleboro, MA, Laurence (wife, Shelley) Haber of Israel, and Steven Haber of Washington D.C.; two daughters: Barbara (husband, Terry) Dowds of New Berlin and Laurie (husband, David) Zike of Portland, OR; ten grandchildren; one sister: Wilma Crespi of FL; one brother: Gerald Goldstein of Long Island, NY; and one sister-in-law: Miriam Goldstein of New York City. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Dr. Rev. Roger Haber and Rev. Terry Dowds officiating.
