She graduated from Moline High School, attended the University of Illinois, and later worked for Montgomery Elevator, John Deere, SIU Medical School, and the Federal Bankruptcy Court, where she retired as Deputy Clerk. Norma was a proud and active member of First Presbyterian Church serving in the choir, as a Sunday school teacher, and a member of Presbyterian Women. She was also a longtime member of Rainbow Girls, Kappa Delta Sorority, Order of the Eastern Star, Kings Daughters, and the PEO Sisterhood. Norma knew life was a gift to be celebrated and always wore a smile. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing, playing the piano, giggling, gardening, walking, taking in the beauty of nature, visiting with friends and family, and listening to help others.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ronald James Lyss and wife JoAnn; and sister-in-law Norma Jean Najim. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Najim of Los Angeles, CA, Cynthia Najim of Springfield, Kathleen (Najim) Redfern and son-in-law Gene of Springfield; siblings-in-law, Vivian Najim of Springfield, Shirley Najim (Clarence "Pudge," deceased) Fenstermaker of Springfield, Edward (Cheri) Najim of Scottsdale, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
