

Norman was born on December 18, 1932 in Springfield, the son of Napoleon “Nap” and Cora E. “Peg” Reese Rodier who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one son, Edward Rodier and three brothers: Donald, Bill and Richard Rodier. He married Betty Bierbaum on April 26, 1958 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Western Military Academy in Alton, IL. He attended the University of Miami and also the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He served as a caddy master during the State Farm Classic for several years and was a former member of Oak Crest Country Club, The Rail in Sherman, Illini Country Club and Shambolee Golf Club. He was a member of the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame and three-time city golf tournament champion. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Petersburg and former member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Springfield. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
After serving his country in the Air Force, Norman began working for his family’s business, Rhodes & Rodier Lathe & Plastering Company from 1958 – 1974. He then began working for Nelson Oil Company until 1998. He then worked part-time for Vono Medical Supplies and Ora-Tech.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Betty Rodier of Petersburg; one son, Jeff (wife, Norine) Rodier of Springfield; two daughters: Julie (husband, Matt) Seck of Divernon and Paula (husband, Tom) Proulx of St. Charles; two grandchildren: Melissa and Christopher, both of St. Charles; one sister, Patricia (husband, Don) Hoelzel of Glenarm and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family welcomes friends to visit from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
Visitation will begin with prayers at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2007 at Christ The King Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant.
Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Dept. of Defense.
