Ollie Sue "Suzy" Coady

Ollie Sue "Suzy" Coady, 68, of Springfield, died at 7:18 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2016 at her home. Suzy was born on December 27, 1947 in Black Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Herman Lee and Jennie Sue Lawson Green. She became the beloved wife of Bernie T. Coady on February 16, 1972. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2015. Suzy retired from the Secretary of State where she worked in the budget department. She loved to play cards and bingo, and enjoyed shopping, reading, and spending time with her family. Suzy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was known to be very comical, generous, and a loving best friend. Suzy was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Bernard Jacob "B.J." Coady; brother, Ernest Edward Glines; and sister-in-law, Karen Coady-Rinkema. She is survived by her children, Mike (wife, Jennie) Coady of Sherman, Adam (wife, Melissa) Coady of Springfield, Ahren "A.J." (wife, Angela) Coady of Tuscola, Ryan (husband, Chris) Coady of Springfield, Lori (husband, Melvin) Hale of Riverton, Jeni (fiance, Gene) Emery of Mechanicsburg, and Rob Bernhardt of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and one on the way; siblings, Olan Lee (Mahonna) Green of Mesquite, Nevada, Linda (Warren) Keyes of Springfield, and Debbie (Mike) Caruso of Springfield; sisters-in-law, Jody (Jeff Morgan) Coady of Springfield and Carol (Don) Leone of Edwardsville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut Street, Springfield, with Rev. Scott Thelander officiating. Burial will be held following the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield.
