

Oma Jean Fairchild, 70 of Springfield, died at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Helia Healthcare. Oma Jean was born March 17, 1937 in Lake City, IL the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth Dyer Hamm. She married Robert Eugene Hugo of Decatur in 1958. She later married Court Fairchild of Tate Coral, FL in 1962. They divorced in 1965. Oma Jean was a member of the First Church of God. She was the recipient of a culinary certificate, which made her very proud. She had been employed as the activities director at Marks Shelter Care Home in Effingham. As a young lady Oma Jean was a cheerleader and beauty queen. Oma Jean was a very loving and caring individual who always put others first. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her loving sister Margaret Hamm. She is survived by one son: Timothy Robert Hugo of West Hollywood, CA, two Stepdaughters: Kayla (husband, Steve) Hittmeier and Cathy (husband, Brian) Wilson of Decatur, three Stepsons: Jon Hugo and Robby (wife Becky) Hugo of Decatur, and Todd (wife Lily) Hugo of Atlanta, GA, 3 grandchildren, one Sister in Law: Mickey (husband, Tom) Hargis of Decatur, IL, One Aunt: Vivian Hamm of Decatur, cousins: Alice St. John of Sullivan, Jasper (wife Evelyn) Dyer of Paris, and Bob Hamm of Decatur, and many nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until a funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. John Ossola officiating.
