Patricia Jane Sloan

Patricia Jane Connolley Sloan, 84, of Springfield, died at 12:35 p.m. on September 21, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. Patricia was born August 10, 1924 in Springfield, the daughter of Leslie G. and Amy H. Swett Pefferle. She married Richard K. Allender; he preceded her in death. She later married Frank Connolley; he also preceded her in death. Patricia married Dale Sloan on July 20, 1983 in Springfield. Patricia owned Frank Connolley Insurance Agency. She retired in 1984. She was a graduate of Springfield High School. She attended U of I where she pledged Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Patricia was a member of Blessed Sacrament and Christ the King Parishes. She was an avid bridge player. She was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband, Dale Sloan of Springfield; three sons, Richard (wife, Cindi) Allender of Springfield, Michael Connolley of Phoenix, AZ and John (wife, Lisa) Connolley of Springfield; two daughters, Leslie Pugh of Coon Rapids, MN and Joyce (husband, Donald) Catron of Auburn; one sister, Mary (husband, Truman) Flatt of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Keri (husband, John) Mayfield, Rick (wife, Jennifer) Allender, Becky Austwick, Michael (wife, Laurel) Pugh, Katie (husband, Donnie) Hurrelbrink, Natalie Catron, Mitchell Connolley, and Carter Connolley; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry, Springfield with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
