
Patrick Monahan, 60 of Springfield, died at 10:08 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on June 28, 1946 in Springfield, the son of Leo V. and Tekla Woloshym Monahan. He attended both Griffin High School and Lanphier High School and graduated from St. Gregory’s High School in Oklahoma City, OK. He graduated from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. His first job was with the U.S. Postal Union and he was a member of the Postal Workers Union. He was also employed as the Assistant to the Dean of Northeastern Illinois University until his retirement in 2005. Patrick enjoyed watching sports, especially University of Notre Dame, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He considered himself a movie buff and the Bells of St. Mary’s was amongst his favorites. He also loved chocolate cake and peanut butter cookies. Private Family Ceremonies will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Private Graveside Ceremonies will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Calvary Cemetery.
