Patsy Ruth Abbott

She was born on February 5, 1937 in Ashland, IL, the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Newton) Thomas. She married Harold Sanderfield and they later divorced. She then married Frank Abbott and he preceded her in death in March of 2000.

Patsy worked as a CNA most of her life at several healthcare facilities throughout the Springfield community. She was a member of Eastview Baptist Church in Springfield. She and her husband were members of the Aqua Sports Club.

She is survived by her 4 children, Betty (husband Keith) Sanderfield-Gluck-Underwood of Springfield, Laura June (husband Kenny who preceded her in death) Callarman of Farmersville, IL, Carl Joseph Abbott of Springfield, and April (husband Christopher) Buscher of Springfield. Carl Joseph and Laura June are twins. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother Lee (wife Esther) Thomas of Concord, IL; a sister Donna Wester of Ashland, IL; a sister-in-law Dolores Spitznagel; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband Frank, she was preceded in death by a sister Mae Hartlage, a brother Joe Spitznagel, and a brother-in-law Carl Wester.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10:30 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
