

Paul A. Lambert, 80, of Springfield, IL, died at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. Paul was born September 11, 1926 in Albany, NY, the son of Albert D. and Dorothy I. Hopkins Lambert. He married Wanda K. Frizzell. Mr. Lambert was a veteran of both the US Navy and the US Army. He was at the Battle of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa and received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal – 2 Stars, and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Paul retired from the military in 1964 after twenty years of service. After his military service, Paul worked at Prudential Insurance in the Bloomington and Lincoln areas, and served as Hospital Administrator at Paxton Community Hospital. Paul was a proud member of the American Legion and the VFW in Paxton. Throughout his life he enjoyed coaching adult and youth groups in baseball, basketball, football, and track, and was an avid bowler. Paul was also a volunteer fireman for the Paxton Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Davy; sister: Ethel Lambert; and three brothers: Donald C. Waite, Albert Lambert, Jr. and Ted Lambert. He is survived by his wife: Wanda K. Lambert of Springfield; two sons: Retired Colonel Kirk S. (wife, Gabriela) Lambert of Fairfax Station, VA and Mark K. (wife, Nancy) Lambert of Normal, IL; two daughters: Paula L. (husband, Billy) McSwain of Rockwall, TX and Barbara L. (husband, Luther) Dearborn of Hudson, IL; two stepchildren: Rob J. Schafer of Anchorage, AK and Heather (husband, Frank) Mikesell of Fairbanks, AK; fourteen grandchildren; one niece, and one nephew; and former wife: Betty Lambert. Cremation accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Private Graveside Ceremonies will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Thursday, October 12, 2006 where military honors will be provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905. The family of Paul A.
