Paul R. Sunderland

Paul R. Sunderland, 57, of Springfield, formerly of Davenport, IA., died Sunday February 14, 2010 at St. John's Hospital.

He was born in Appleton, WI, September 10, 1952, the son of Raymond and Dorothy Werner Sunderland. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

Paul was the beloved husband of Janice Kretchman Sunderland; they were married May 10, 1986, and she survives. Also surviving are his brother Wally (wife Judy Jensen) Sunderland; his two nephews, Eric and Geoff Sunderland, all of Eagan, MN; an aunt and uncle, Ellen and LeRoy Sunderland of Pekin, IL, and cousins from Illinois, Texas and Kentucky.

Paul was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He was an avid Badger fan. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and attended the Springfield Bible Church in Springfield.

Paul worked in the nuclear power industry all of his career. He worked with Exelon Corporation, at the Quad Cities Power Plant and at the time of his death, he was an emergency planning coordinator with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

He was a man of faith and loved his Lord. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at the Springfield Bible Church 2060 Westchester Blvd. Springfield, IL on Saturday February 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM Rev. John Standard will officiate.
