

Sid was born on March 11, 1927 in Scottville, IL, the son of Ira and Rena Starky Arnold.
Sid was a graduate of Palmyra-Northwestern High School. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He retired after 35 years as a Computer Programmer with Franklin Life. Sid enjoyed bowling on a league and was also active in prison ministry. He rooted for the Cardinals, tended to his garden, and was a talented woodworker in his spare time where he made several grandfather clocks, mantel clocks, and various other items.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Clarabell, Ethel Jane, and Barbara Jean Arnold; three brothers, Darryl Jr., Loren Lee, and Jimmy Arnold; and two step-brothers, Maurice and Dale Busch.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Arnold of Chatham; two sons, Terry (wife, Debra) Arnold of Girard and Gary Arnold of Virden; one daughter, Denise (husband, Jonathan) Arnold-Tarr; five grandchildren, Jason Arnold (Joel Thoman) of Boston, MA, Zachary (fiance, Juanita) Arnold of Harvel, Elias Arnold of Murphysboro, IL, Jonny (wife, Aubrey) Tarr of Loami, and Maggie (husband, Kyle) Tarr-Anderson of Hillsboro; two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Hailey Arnold of Curran; two siblings, Larry (wife, Doris) Arnold of Concord and Eleanor Harper of Carlinville; and nieces and nephews
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Southern View Chapel, 4500 South 2nd St., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Gilley officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the United States Navy.
