

She was born on December 18, 1925, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, the daughter of Ray and Elsie Bellows.
Phyllis graduated from Pawnee High School in Nebraska with the class of 1943. She married John James Forneris on November 12, 1944. When John was discharged from The Army Air Force, they moved to Ann Arbor, MI, while John studied and graduated from The University of Michigan Engineering School. Springfield became their new home in 1951, where they raised their three children: Judith Lynn Domescik Carter (Harry), John Phillip (Becky), and Patricia Ann Bainter (Terry). She worked part-time as an office clerk at Sears for 17 years. Phyllis always put family first and cherished every moment with them. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Springfield.
She loved life and held her family and friends close to her heart. Phyllis enjoyed golf, bowling, Bunco and bridge. She loved to travel and visited her Nebraska family often. Phyllis also treated her family to various trips and cruises.
Phyllis loved to start her mornings with her coffee, newspaper, and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed life and was always full of love.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John; daughter, Judith; parents; and three brothers and two sisters.
Phyllis is survived by her son, John; daughter, Patti, as well as 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, until the time of the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
