Ralph Clarke Buckner Sr., 80, of Springfield, passed away Monday April 2, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Hatton, MO., April 5, 1931 the son of Benjamin and Evelyn Smallwood Buckner. He married Margariete M. Smock in Decatur, IL in 1973 and she preceded her in death January 3, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ralph C. Buckner Jr., his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mr. Buckner retired in 2011 from the SAI Insurance Agency. He was a member of the Richland Baptist Church in Fulton MO. He adored his dog Toby. He enjoyed working in his yard and planting flowers.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Sarah May Britt of Fulton, MO., 2 step-sons; Homer L. Gordy of Las Vegas, NV., and Douglas (wife Lois) Gordy of Decatur, IL., 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Vaughn Beeman will officiate.
