

She was born in Gibson City on January 15, 1907, the only daughter of John Edward and Lulu Hool Phares, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married to Albert L. Dunn on June 13, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1978. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wayne Francis and William Frederick Phares.
She is survived by a niece, Mrs. John (Marilyn) Brennan, a nephew, William Edward (wife Nancy) Phares, and 3 great nephews, William Bradley (wife Sandra) Phares, Brian Keith (wife Christine) Phares, and Brent Edward (wife Sarah) Phares, an d several cousins.
She came to Springfield in 1933 and worked as a personal secretary for IL Governor Henry Horner and several other state officials for 19 years. On October 8, 1954, she accepted a position as Secretary in the office of the Illinois Hotel and Motel Association where she was employed until her retirement on March 31, 1980.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 1:30 pm in the chapel at St. Joseph’s Home in Springfield, with Father Charles Dahlby officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Illiopolis, IL.
