

Rev. Francis James Corrigan, 92 of Sherman, died at 5:12 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004 at The Villa East Healthcare Center East in Sherman. Rev. Corrigan was born July 14, 1911 in Whittemore, IA the son of Joseph B. and Anna A. Hington Corrigan. He was ordained June 24, 1938 at St. Francis of Assisi in Teutopolis, IL. Rev. Corrigan served as Assistant Pastor at St. Joseph’s Church in Granite City, IL from 1938-1945, and then served as Pastor at St. Valentine Church in Bend, IL from 1945-1950 and also served as Pastor for Sacred Heart Church in Livingston, IL and St. Ubaldus in New Douglas, IL from 1950-1994. He retired October 12, 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph J. Corrigan. He is survived by one brother Joseph E. (wife-Dorothy) Corrigan of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday March 5th at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th Street in Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m., Rev. Msgr. Kevin Vann officiating. Additional visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 6th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 188 Livingston Avenue, in Livingston, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 6th, 2004 with Most Rev. George J. Lucas Principal Celebrant and Priests of the Diocese concelebrants. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Livingston, IL. The family of Rev. Francis James Corrigan is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
