

Richard "Rick" E. Towner, 62, of Springfield, died at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. Rick was born January 19, 1952 in Litchfield, the son of Edward and Jacqueline Frost Towner. Rick was a graduate of Springfield High School and Lincoln Land Community College. He worked as an etcher for Metal Dcor for 29 years and volunteered with his sons' sporting teams. He enjoyed bowling, playing on softball teams, chess, shooting with his sons, reading, writing, and he adored animals. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Jackson; father, Edward Towner; step mother, Lillian Towner; grandparents, including his grandmother that helped raise him, Grace Towner; and one sister, Susan Lopez. He is survived by his two sons, Jason (wife, Rachel) Towner and Matthew Towner, all of Springfield; one grandson, Jonathan Towner of Springfield; ex-wife, Patricia Jo Towner of Springfield; one sister, Vickie (husband, Mike) Eldridge of Kansas; two aunts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Ceremony: 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
