Richard E. Rush

Richard E. Rush, 81, of Springfield, died at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at St. Johns Hospital. Richard was born on August 21, 1935 in Springfield, the son of Everett J. and Jesse Mae Antel Rush. He married Glenna Coleman at Cantrall United Methodist Church; she preceded him in death. Richard graduated from Springfield High School. He worked for K-Mart for more than sixteen years. He loved working there and his K-Mart friends were very important to him. He was a member of Blue Ridge Club. He enjoyed meeting every morning at the McDonalds Coffee Club at South Grand and 6th. Richard was an avid dog lover and fostered many dogs, providing them with a loving, caring, and safe environment. He enjoyed going to estate sales and auctions, and loved antique furniture. Richard was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Everett N. Rush. He is survived by his brother, Herbert (Donna) Rush of Springfield; several nieces and nephews, including Cheryl McKnelly and Brian Rush, both of Springfield; and sister-in-law, Virginia Rush of Athens. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Paulette Cott officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
