

Robert E. Felmet, 88, of Springfield, passed away Sunday July 29, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. He was born January 27, 1930 in Noble, IL to Paul M. and Nellie J. Hunley Felmet. He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul and Bill. Bob served his country in the US Army from 1948 until being honorably discharged in 1952. He married Chloe Donn Stratton March 23, 1957 in Nilwood, IL, with Reverend Edgar Schultz officiating. Mr. Felmet has been a member of Chatham Baptist Church since 1973 where he served as a greeter and an usher. He has been a barber since 1958 and opened a barber shop in Chatham in 1973, selling it just a few weeks ago. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Chloe Donn Felmet of Springfield; son, Jeff Felmet of Springfield; brothers, John (Sherry) Wolf of Vermont and Charles (Susan) Wolf of Texas; brother-in-law Delmar (Dorothy) Stratton of Florida; several nieces, nephews, customers and friends. His family will greet friends from 10am until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11am, Thursday, August 2, at Chatham Baptist Church, 1500 East Walnut Street, Chatham, IL, 62629 with Pastor Milton Bost officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense will conduct military honors.
