

Robert ''Walt'' Eaton, 87, of Sherman, died at 1:19 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2003 at his residence. Walt was born February 13, 1915 in Peoria the son of James T. and Emma Hoehne Eaton. He married Mary J. Dempsey, November 16, 1940 in Peoria. Mr. Eaton was employed by Central Illinois Light Company at theWallace Station, Peoria as Maintenance Supervisor for 31 years, retiring in March 1977. He was a veteran of the Army-Air Force serving during WWII receiving the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory medal. He was a member of Cilco Vet Club and Cilco Retiree Club, Servants of The Eucharist and a member of St. John Vianney Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, two sisters and a number of nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife: Mary J. of Sherman; one son: Robert J. (wife, Jodi) Eaton of Denver, CO; one daughter; Carol S. (husband, Ray) Clouser of Loami; two granddaughters; four step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His body was donated to Logan University and College of Chiropractic. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2003 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church with Reverend Eugene Costa celebrant. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the World War II Illinois Veteran’s Memorial, P.O. Box 5652, Springfield, IL 62705-5652. The family of Robert ''Walt'' Eaton is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
