Robert L. Mullen

Robert L. Mullen, 68, of Virden, died at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Robert was born April 9, 1950 in Springfield, the son of William Howard and Ida Evelyn Shafer Mullen. He married Donna Lambert on April 8, 2000. Robert graduated from Lanphier High School. He worked as a machinist for Bunn-O-Matic for 20 years. After retirement, he spent his time driving for Enterprise. He was a member of Sangamo Surf Club. Robert proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He loved fishing, camping, and boating at Otter Lake, and spending time with his grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Francis Mullen; and brothers, William Russell Mullen and Jerry Eugene Mullen. He is survived by his son, Brent (Christina) Miller of Glenarm; grandson, Blake Miller; siblings, Patricia Ann Brown, Shirley Gene Harp, and David W. Mullen all of Springfield; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his two beloved dogs, Taz and Heidi. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Memorial Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:45 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.
